Betting challenge week 5: Mr Fixit v Ladbrokes

IT’S taken four weeks but Mr Fixit has finally broken the drought in the betting challenge.

It was a tough weekend as well but Mr Fixit managed to avoid the pitfalls and win thanks to Auchinleck, Glencairn and Kelty.

Ladbrokes’ Dean McPherson is still to get off the mark after Ballingry’s surprise defeat and a draw for Bo’ness ended his hopes.

So it’s first blood to Mr Fixit in the betting challenge with his line worth £41.67. Remember the loser buys the winner a junior football season ticket of his choice.

And don’t forget to post your own treble as a comment for a chance to win a £25 free bet with Ladbrokes.

Mr Fixit writes: I’m hoping to repeat last week’s success and start my line with Rob Roy at home to Beith. I see Dean has also taken them despite suggesting he would pick only sides from the east.

That emphasises to me the value on Rob Roy who are 10-11. They hammered Glenafton 7-3 last weekend, going 5-0 up in 15 minutes, and seeing West Super top scorer Ian Diack hammer in four goals.

Strangely Beith’s four points have come on their travels but they are better going forward than defending and that must be a concern for the Ayrshire outfit. This could be another goalfest and I expect Rabs to come out on top.

Next I’m on leaders Auchinleck at home to Pollok. Talbot have started the season strongly with their only blip coming against Beith at home when they conceded a last-minute equaliser.

Pollok, despite strengthening, still seem fragile and face another struggle if they don’t pick up some wins soon. Last week’s 3-0 defeat at home to Petershill was a shocker and I’ll be on Talbot at 8-11.

I’m supremely confident about my first two picks and admit the third is a bit of a risk. For me it’s Petershill at 6-4 at home to Irvine Meadow.#

I watched Meadow lose to Clydebank last week and was less impressed. Bankies played well but I expected more from the champions who hardly created a chance after going 1-0 down.

Meadow don’t often lose two in a row but will have to raise their game to match a Peasy side who have again started the season well. It’s not the easiest place to go and I fancy the home men on their plastic pitch.

Dean writes: Well folks all I can say is a big well done to Mr Fixit for being the first to hit a treble this year. One up to him but I’m not panicking. That season ticket is still a long way off.

Last week was again was poor from me with Ballingry sustaining a shock defeat and Bo’ness losing two goals in the final 10 minutes to draw with Lochee United.

This week my first pick is again Linlithgow at 8-13 away to Lochee United. Why change a selection that’s working for you and a team that will be filled with so much confidence after securing a place in the first cup final of the season.

My second selection will come from the west and it is Kirkintilloch Rob Roy who are 10-11 at home to Beith. Rob Roy have started the season well and I think will be too strong at home for Beith side who have had an indifferent start to the season with four points from four games.

My final selection is for Camelon who are 4-5 at home to Musselburgh Athletic. Camelon will be hoping to keep moving up the table and if they play anything like they did last week against Bonnyrigg the price looks cracking. Let’s hope I can get off the mark this week.
