Fife & Lothians Cup: Round-up

FIERCE RIVALS Bo’ness United and Linlithgow Rose will finish their respective season’s battling it out to be Fife & Lothians Cup winners.

The final of the Fife & Lothians Cup will be played at Newtown Park, the home of newly crowned East Superleague champions Bo’ness, on Friday 6th June with a 7.15pm kick-off.

Allan McGonigal’s title winners secured their place in the final last Monday evening after they defeated Kelty Hearts 2-0 at Newtown Park.

Goals from Nicky Walker and Darren Gribben either side of the break sealed the win for Bo’ness who will be hoping to end what has been a great season with even more silverware.

But their local rivals Linlithgow will be determined to finish their own season with at least one piece of silverware from a turbulent season.

Danny Smith’s men, who are the Fife & Lothians Cup holders, booked their place in the final courtesy of a 1-0 win against Hill of Beath at Prestonfield last Monday evening also.

Ian Diack was the Rose hero bagging the winner late in the game to set up what is sure to be a thrilling climax to the junior football season.

Why is this not being played at a neutral venue?

The clubs had a toss of the coin ahead of their league game last Saturday which Bo’ness won, hence the final being played at Newtown Park.
