Nov 15: West Region Round-up

IRVINE MEADOW cemented their place at the top of the West Super Premier with a demolition job on Shotts Bon Acoord.

Stevie Rankin’s men ran out comprehensive 6-0 winners at Meadow Park as they continued their 100 per cent start to the campaign.

Three goals inside five first half minutes put Medda in command with Willie Sawyers finding the net twice before Gary McCann’s cross was deflected into the Shotts goal off a defender.

And Shotts luck didn’t get any better after the interval as further strikes from Mark Thomson, Mark McLennan and Chris Hall emphasised Medda’s superiority.

Champions Auchinleck Talbot kept themselves in touch with their rivals at the top of the table with a battling 2-0 win at Glenafton Athletic, who recently beat them by the reverse score line in the Ayrshire League Cup final.

Talbot’s goals both came in the second half courtesy of Kier Milliken and Graham Wilson and the victory mean’s Tommy Sloan’s men remain third in the table.

Beith remain in second place after winning 2-1 against bottom side Clydebank at Bellsdale Park with goals from Andy Reid and Nicky Docherty coming either side of Campbell’s header.

Rookie boss Craig McEwan watched his Arthurlie side move up to sixth in the table with a 2-0 win at Petershill in the Glasgow Derby with both goals coming from Chris Dallas.

Elsewhere Troon picked up their first league win of the season running out 4-0 winners at Kilbirnie Ladeside with goals from Craig Harvey and Mick McCann adding to Scott Chatham’s double.

And in the other West Super Premier game Junior Cup holders Hurlford United were held to a 1-1 draw with Cumnock at Blair Park.
